CHORDALLY INVITED

Ollie Wright

Chordally is one of our un-competitive groups in the society. Very relaxed, this group have bonded over their love for music.

A few words from the MD Ollie:

It’s hard to pin down an overarching highlight because there’s been basically no lowlights! But going to Dublin with people I met in the society is up there and singing in the ICCA UK Final last year in London was pretty sick too👀

Chordally is really special to me, it’s where I started and really encompasses everything that’s great about the society, it’s welcoming, the vibes are ✨impeccable✨and you’ll learn more than you’d think imaginable there ❤️🖤

RADIOOCTAVE

Hannah McCullough, Ollie Wilkinson and Matthew Macfarlane

RadioOctave is one of our competitive groups in the society. Having competed in the ICCAs in 2021/22, we are proud to say that they got to the National Semi finals.

A few words from the MDs:

As one of the oldest groups of the society, RadioOctave has done it all! Fringe, ICCAs, Notts Splendour Fest, pub gigs, radio and tv, and an album - and that was just the last two years! We are a mixed, competitive group with big goals and even bigger energy singing a massive variety of music depending on the interests of our members. We have a new batch of MDs this year hoping to carry on last year’s amazing work.
The MDs collectively decided (in a very self-interested and pompous way) that our favourite song is Raining Men, by RadioOctave… go and listen to it on our album ‘Blue’, available on all streaming services! Lots of love, bleed blue💙

ACA-POCALYPSE

Katherine Rutherford and Kirsten Heri

Introducing our next competitive group, Aca-pocalypse. Aca-pocalypse also competes in the ICCAs this year and placed in the semi finals.
MDs for Aca-pocalypse this year are Katherine and Kirsten and here are a few words from then about the group:
Our ICCA UK Semi-Final victory placed them in the Top 12 UK Collegiate A Cappella groups of the 2021/22 comp season culminating in a performance at the Hackney Empire in London. Whilst they also took the Edinburgh Fringe Festival by storm over the summer selling hundreds of tickets to their very own show 'Diamond in the Riff'.

Noise

Nate Ingram and Harri Lee

UoN’s newest competitive group: NOISE. NOISE is a group that focuses on songs that interest and excite us in ways that we aren’t used to - expect electronic and upbeat dance numbers followed by slam dunk choral chords! New to the scene, we are excited to see what NOISE gets up to this year.

A few words from the MDs:

In our group, you’ll get the chance to pave new paths and be a part of something brand spanking new! Are you up for it? Come to auditions and find out ;)

PITCH, PLEASE

Amy Howarth and Helen Bendell

Pitch perfect dream? A group of girls with friends for life? This is the group for you. Introducing Pitch Please!
This is the societies group for women and non-binary people. Our group is close-knit - we’re a group of friends who happen to sing together! We place the emphasis on fun, so if you’re in the mood to laugh while we sing, come along and audition!

UNPLUGGED

Ellie-May Davies and Sunnay Mistry

Unplugged is a mixed, competitive group. They focus on highlighting the fun of a cappella by selecting cheesy bangers and pop hits from various decades.

MD for this year is Sunnay (he/him) and GL is Ellie-Mae (she/her) and here are a few words from then:

Our favourite memory of a cappella is Unplugged’s journey to the ICCA’s last year. The group not only performed to their best ability but they all had the best time along the way and built true friendships, bonding over a cappella. We are looking for all vocal parts this year and are so excited to take on new members to build upon the legacy of Unplugged.

SON OF A PITCH

Donna Smith and Elsa Kitching

We are Son of a Pitch, more commonly known as SOAP, a non-competitive, auditioned group run by Elsa (she/her) and Donna (she/her).
Originally set up as a jazz group, we've now broadened into singing a variety of different styles, just like our signature rainbow colour! If you want a more chilled a cappella experience, while creating bright and fun performances, SOAP is for you.

This year we have a variety of pieces in the works, from pop-rock to one of our classic musical theatre medleys. We are always open to rehearsing member arranged pieces, and aim to create an environment where we can all learn from each other and grow as performers. We hope to see you this year:)

CADENCE

Amy Lacey & Hâf Lloyd

I’m Ollie (he/him), I sing bari/bass and have previously been in Chordally, Men to Boys and Radiooctave for the past two years!

Gin And Tonics 2.JPG

GIN & TONICS

David Ooi, Joel Johnson & Zoe Hopkins

Gin and Tonics are a mixed A Cappella group that like to focus on the social aspects of the hobby. They go to the pub after every rehearsal and arrange nights out every week. Not only is this good for making friends and having fun, they believe that good chemistry between members makes it easier to get a great sound! Although aiming for a slightly new direction this year, their niche has stayed the same: The laidback social group that drinks a little too much before they go on stage.
